WE ARE WHO GOD SAYS WE ARE!

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (NIV) Psalm 139:14

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous–how well I know it. (NLT) Psalm 139:14

There are so many confounding labels and marketing campaigns attempting to redefine and label us. Just watch a football game or a reality show, and count the endless comnercials, observe and listen to their messages, can you detect what’s for sale? And be oh so careful because when you decide to go shopping your carts will be filled with items that you hadn’t initially intended on purchasing! The marketing guru’s are very convincing! Print media does a fine job at selling us things, especially our children! We fall prey and before long we have adopted the subliminal advertisers messages. Their techniques are subtle but effective and we tell ourselves that we can’t live with out the electronic gadgets, the food, and the “gear”. Advertising is a billion dollar industry creating slick, sleek, eye catching ads which work tirelessly to  bribe us into believing that we can be better, smarter, thinner and accomplished if we have “their” brand, “their” products and “their” services.

But it’s never free, it costs and there are consequences!  If only we buy the right make-up, the bigger bling, the smart and fashionable furnishings, the expensive perfumes and the correct fiber foods-whatever the day’s hot commodity is, once acquired, then and only then  will we “A-ok” !

But when the rubber meets the road and life’s issues begin to take precedence over the mounting acquisitions of more stuff, and none of it does the trick for addressing our personal and spiritual development. So what does?  What will and can be replaced with our retail therapy, cluttered mindset and desire to have more? I believe I know what can halt the thirst or quench and deliver or parched souls. Possibly it’s an elixir of truth about who’s we are and to whom we belong. You need not spare any of your hard earned dollars, just know that your bill was paid at Calvary.

Jesus did it for us!  There are no price comparisons required or merchandise to be had. Only requirement that you need embrace is a willing heart, a renewed mind and an active search-a knocking if you will, a heartfelt searching! Yes, we need only participate in searching for an everlasting truth! A truth that beckons us to embrace a life sustaining friendship where if we knock God answers.

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7  NLT

“Knock and the door will be open.” Try an application of divine love. Love that delivers us and answers to questions that your soul is begging for! The advertisers dare not convey your beloved identity! If they told you, you’d have no need for their stuff, their trinkets, their clothing, their lipsticks, their enhancers and certainly not their footware. Just think of what the Divine desires to share with you regarding your true identity and purpose. Oh my friend, it exceeds the messages we are daily bombarded with. Your are more then adequate in Jesus Christ-triumphant, energized and delievered! Think of what God offers you and yours as a heathy alernative, a Holy Ghost elixir an infilling that will never rust or corrode. Here are several encouraging bible scriptures that will delight your very being! Scriptures that reveal who we are in Christ Jesus and what a King and Lord that is in love with you, thinks of you and me!

Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, He dwells in us

1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19

We are joined in the Lord and am one spirit with Him .1 Corinthians 6:17

God leads us in the triumph and knowledge of Christ . 2 Corinthians 2:14

The hardening of our mind has been removed in Christ . 2 Corinthians 3:14

We are new creatures in Christ . 2 Corinthians 5:17

We have become the righteousness of God in Christ . 2 Corinthians 5:21

Truly it’s personal! And does it ever take work focusing on our personal, spiritual development! But the benefits outway the failed attempts to kill our progress. The benefits indeed are powerfully positive-our generations to come will reap the harvest because we are healthy and generational bondages won’t be able reek havoc. There’s not a thing that the advertisers can sell me that God won’t and can’t provide. But we must seek Him, pray for continued guidance and sustenance! Come on friends let’s stay connected to the tree of life. It’s all in the Bible, the Holy Scriptures!  God reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! We rejoice in the commitment of our growth!  Thank you Lord for the awakening our spirits, We are who you say we are!

We have been made one with all who are in Christ Jesus .Galatians 3:28

We are no longer a slave but a child of an heir . Galatians 4:7

We have been set free in Christ . Galatians 5:1

We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places . Ephesians 1:3

We are chosen, holy, and blameless before God . Ephesians 1:4

IT’S ALREADY ALRIGHT!

The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and
will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11

I feel it in my spirit it’s already alright. Confirmation received! Proclaim it friends: it’s already alright! We walk by faith not by sight. Yolanda Adams bellowed out that song while I was headed down Settlers Landing Road, almost at my designation of work. I didn’t have to ponder what Yolanda Adams was singing or possibly why.

My spirit applauded the connection and confirmation that while we await our next assignment, board meeting discussion, funding raising endeavor, proposed business venture, arrival of our loved ones deployment assignment, scheduled court appearance, closing or foreclosure date, acceptance or rejection letter and/or medical tests results for health prognosis-depending on what you are looking for; that It’s already alright! So grateful that God can communicate, talk with us regarding our need through a song, a tune playing on the radio and we immediately understand that that was the flag being raised on our vessel traveling through life-that no matter how choppy the waters are and how the sun may or may not be blazing and beating down on our heads that it’s already alright.

So my friends it’s ok to travel in silence, hum or sing off  beat as we navigate our way through the main thoroughfares and down the side streets, just be assured and comforted in your hearts that it’s already! Alright!  So hang in there and turn the radio on, crank up the volume, bop your heads and jam with your favorite tune loud, strong and assured!

Already Alright Lyrics
I want to start things out by giving testimony
Cause one of my friends got I’ll seriously
Now the doctor told him ain’t no way you gone’ live
But he prayed his prayer in faith
And a miracle appeared
[Chorus:]Its already alright, Its already alright
And all you got to do is
Just bow your head down
Just bow and pray
And then give it all up
And know everything’s gonna be okay
Just throw your hands up
And then wave them left to right
And now do your dance child
Cause it’s alright already
Always surrounded by negativity
This might be where I live
But it ain’t gonna change me
Gotta work on my mind
And keep my actions pure
And when I stumble, I know who has the cure
So any time your feeling down
Just lift your voice in praise
It’ll pick you right up
And you can come to Him don’t be afraid
Anytime , day or night
He can give you what you need
And if you pray your prayer in faith
And in your heart believe that
[Chorus:]
When life’s problems get you down
Can’t find no peace nowhere around
Trust in the spirit you can’t see
Its bout to bring you your relief
Go ahead and cry now , it’s alright
Cause now you’re cryin tears of joy
This life ain’t hurting you no more
Cause you know it’s already alright

Yolanda Adams Singing: Already Alright

I pray beloved that the Lord will continue to bless you, build you up , keep you and comfort you with his peace and assurance for all the days to come. Amen!

Grateful to God for a Fresh New Wind!

WOULD I KNOW HIM IF I SAW HIM?

“My sheep har My voice ad I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27

Yes,this was truy a Kodak Moment! My camera wasn’t in arms reach, when I returned ready to snap pictures, my cardinal had flown away. But what was truly surprising happended moments later when. I opened my dining room curtains and there on a Holly Tree branch was a Blue Jay perched and peering back at me. The bird knew I wanted to snap his picture and proceeded to give me an acrobatic arial show. No sucess with snapping his antics but I recognized this as a splendid moment. Then the Holy Spirit impressed upon my heart that when we see the divine, see God’s imprint, His outstretched hand in our simplistic lives, if we’re rushing we forfeit the opportunity to celebrate the Divine-celebrate God with us! Do we know Him? Do we understand that He’s been in our presence? Can we recogize Him in the ordinary? I surely hope so, because witnessing Him is a gift from heaven!

Standing on the cold linoleum kitchen floor,

Gazing out the back window,

Wrapped up in my heavy sweater,

No thoughts dominating another.

Just enjoying,

Enjoying my refudge,

Enjoying my sanctuary-home!

A sweet, easy Sunday afternoon,

My white, now gray warn sweater,

Hugs my weary body.

The atmosphere whispers,

“Rest, don’t you dare rush!”

“Move easy, don’t be hasty!”

Sipping warm chocolatey joy,

This is the long awaited elixir!

Delightfully perched,

The holly tree branches bend-sway,

Appearing so regal-so assured in your feathered coat of cobalt blue and steel gray,

You beckoned me to watch,

Witness your undisturbed perch.

Confident,

Pulling back my curtain, I applauded your presence.

Thank you, You are here!

And low and behold,

Another friend.

“Good Afternoon,Cardinal what brings you here?”

“Could this be the hallow ground that awaits us?”

And then it dawned on me,

Would I know Him if I saw him?

The Lover of My Soul, the Lifter of My Head!

Sun streaming,

Leaves twirling,

Crisp air moving.

Birds fluttering,

Stillness hovering?

Would I hear Him in my steps?

Feel Him in the atmosphere?

Hear Him in my breathing?

Reverence Him the quiet?

Witness Him in Nature?

Or rush past Him in haste?

Today, I know Him,

Acknowledge, notice the Divine,

Marvel at His presence.

You are truly here!

My poem:Would I know Him If I Saw Him was shared at the Word4Word Open Mic this past Tuesday evening at Aromas Cafe in Newport News. I was inspired to write and share days before this event. Was it ever good theraphy-sitting amongst kindred spirits loving poetry, writing their stories, unashamedly sharing their voices and experiences! There’s power in these prose! No negativity, just acceptance and partaking in an honestly exhilerating evening! What a great way to conclude a workday.

The inception of my poem occured on Sunday afternoon. It was really a crisp, wintery feeling day. There was no snow, but it was certainly cold. I stood in my kitchen, wearing my favorite warn sweater and just enjoyed gazing out the window. There was nothing particularly interesting at that moment. But then I noticed a fire engine red furry ball moving, or so it appeared. As I looked closer, I realized it was a Cardinal playing in a pile of leaves. What a wonderful sight. This was a first for me, witnessing this.
